The Food Project

I was lucky enough to get a raised bed for urban gardening through The Food Project, thanks to my friend who told me about it. The seeds were planted 2 weeks ago, and the first ones to germinate and peek out were three lovely rows of lettuce, visible below my bedroom window.

I'm glad to see that all the seeds germinated, and the bed is looking beautiful, with rows of green!!

I'm a little concerned about the transplanted tomato plants, but hopefully they will adjust soon to their new home. Here are two pictures I took earlier today.

The tomato plants are visible in this picture below - back row in the left corner, with the basil plant in front.

My thanks to all the wonderful folks at The Food Project who put up the bed and helped me with all my beginner's questions. This project is in conjunction with Wellesley College to test the lead content in soil. It's my first time gardening - I've only killed a few houseplants so far. I'm hoping to do better with the plants in the raised bed. Be on the lookout for more updates in near future!
