Trivia Time

Here's some trivia for you.

1. Can you guess what this graph represents?
(Hint: The first data-point y-axis value is 63.06 and the last one is 56.69. The lowest value is 49.96 corresponding to 1996.)

2. What's your guess for the next data-point value on the y-axis?

ETA: The above graph represents the percentage voter turnout in the US Presidential elections from 1960 to 2004. [Source, though there's slightly different data available here.] When I first came across this data few years ago, I was really surprised to find out that the voter turnout in the US had been so low and hovered around the 50-55% mark. Here's the graph with values:

My optimistic guess for this year is that the percentage voter turnout will surpass the 1960 record.

Voter turnout?

I'm guessing we see a spike in 2008...

How are you, btw? I've been a blogging slacker lately.

I was thinking about economic trends but Sarah may be right.

Sarah: You got it right!! It's the percentage voter turnout in the US Presidential elections. Yeah, I've been a blog slacker too. Hoping it'll pick up.

Patrix: Welcome. I was wondering if the 4 year interval on the x-axis would be a giveaway.

I'm guessing this time around, the voter turnout will go up to 65% or so, or at least exceed the record of 63.06% set during JFK-Nixon.
